Started playing bowls at the age of eight for the Old Chapel. After eight seasons at the Old Chapel (1980-1987) Darren joined Broomfield on 25th November 1987 with his first active season being 1988. Ian Tew and Keith Richardson left the Old Chapel at the same time, with all three starting the 1988 season for Broomfield.
